😠 Angry
Just listened to this new Bruce Springsteen song “Streets of Minneapolis.”
Absolute garbage.
This is the same guy who used to write songs about real people, working-class struggles, small towns, broken dreams, getting by when life punches you in the teeth. That’s why people respected his music.
Now it just sounds like political propaganda wrapped in a guitar riff. Instead of telling stories, it feels like he’s pushing an agenda. And honestly, it’s disappointing. When artists start using their fame as a megaphone for politics instead of music, the songs stop feeling real.
Bruce used to write songs you could feel in your bones.
Now it feels like he’s lecturing people.
Total sellout moment.
Anyway… here’s the video. Yeah, I know I’m technically promoting it by posting it, but you should hear it for yourself.
Sometimes the best way to see how far someone’s fallen is to just listen.

Part of what’s happening here is he’s always been political, but it used to be layered into storytelling instead of being front and center.
Songs like Born in the U.S.A. or The Ghost of Tom Joad were dealing with war, poverty, and working-class struggles, just framed through characters instead of direct statements.
Now it feels more direct, especially with this song calling things out more openly. So, it’s not really a shift in beliefs, it’s more a shift in how clearly he’s choosing to say it.

I get what you’re saying, but Springsteen’s always been political. That’s not new. What’s different now is he’s not even trying to hide it behind storytelling anymore, it’s just straight-up message.
Some people are going to respect that, others are going to feel like it lost something. Depends on what you listen to him for in the first place.
